student Loan Tax deduction for previous year?

student Loan Tax deduction for previous year?

The question

I have two student loan tax deductions that I can claim for this year 2011. But, I would prefer to use that tax deduction for next year 2012 because my IRA tax deductible is already giving me a full refund on my income tax.

So I question, can I wait and use this student loan tax deduction for next year’s income tax instead of this year’s? are there any penalties?
