If college was free, will more people in our society have degree’s?

The question

Do you agree that if college were free, more people will have degree’s? And whomever studies what they wish, will live amongst their class? Do you reckon that this will raise the poverty levels, and force people to strive for higher education to be able to pay the heavy taxes? It will be so nice if young adults, and even some adults can go to school for free….College is just so expensive.

Coming from my experience and what I’ve witnessed, it seems as though the poorer are getting poorer and only the elite middle class and higher class is able to pay for their children’s’ education. My mother, came from a single mom working class home. My grandma was a teacher at a local public school and could not afford my mothers’ and aunts’ college tuition. My mom and aunt were forced to take out student loans and are still paying them back to this day. My mom and aunt both obtained there graduate degrees and I spoke to my mother the other day and she made it clear that she cannot afford my University and I will have to take out loans until I graduate in 2013, this is devastating to not just me, but a lot of pupils who go in debt for the rest of their lives, over college! Middle class/working class families can’t afford to pay for their kids college and I’m ineligible to get state aid because my mom makes decent money.

Yes.
I reckon so. If college were free as high school was, so many people would continue on vs taking up working full time, a life of crime, etc. Anyone can go to college, but the process is so hard with finances and admissions and all its just simpler not to go, but of course it would be more beneficial to continue on.
If college tuition were free, more people might have degrees (no apostrophe), but I wonder how many of them would have useful degrees that lead to well paying jobs and how many would have simple to earn useless degrees in the humanities and social sciences which lead to unemployment. I certainly hope that education will not raise poverty levels, although it might if students continue to major in useless subjects in the humanities and social sciences.

US taxes are not heavy. They are the lightest they have every been since before World War II. That is why the government will soon be unable to pay its debts. The government does not owe students a university education. Perhaps if tuition fees were higher, students would major in subjects which lead to well paying careers which would enable them to repay student loans.

I need to borrow between 00 and 00 for a period of about 2 months, excellent credit, terrible debt/income ratio.?

The question

I’m going to be attending law school soon, but I’m going to need some money for expenses. I feel around $ 2000 should help me cover these expenses (apartment, laptop, etc), but I’m having distress finding a company that will lend me the money. I plot on paying the whole loan off as soon as financial aid is dispersed, but that doesn’t occur until 2 weeks after classes start (mid-September).

I have a excellent credit rating (707 last I checked), but since I have student loans from college I’ve been told I have a high debt/income ratio (despite those loans being deferred until 2013.

Does anyone know an society that will be able to advance me they money or give me a load, or any programs that could provide the money for a small time until I can pay them back?

Have you questioned your financial aid office about small term university loans? Most schools have them, above all if it is just to bridge the gap between when school starts and when aid arrives. Usually, a condition is that the loan must be paid before the end of the semester. The interest rate is minimal- certainly much better than the ones offered by loan companies.
